This is the Thai Pavillion and garden at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison. The Thai government donated this to the University who in turn, asked the botanical gardens to place it there. Nine Thai artisans came to erect it. It took them 3 weeks to put it together (origianly it was made in Thailand and was disassembled to ship it). It is covered in intricate patterns of gold leaf.... amazing!
Located in Western Massachusetts, I am a college instructor and Associate Director of Community Service Learning at UMass Amherst. In addition, I am an artist of the garden and home including: designing, creating, implementing and up-cycling for interior and exterior spaces. My work often includes assemblage with altered, recycled and found objects. For me, the hunt for materials is a huge part of the creative process. I am married and have grown children: a daughter and son-in-law and a son and daughter-in-law. I have two dogs, Chloe and Mia and 2 cats, Arthur and Merci. All of our pets are rescues. The most recent arrival is from an awesome rescue in Tennessee, A Place to Bark - google it!
